Do You Have The Congo Line With Athletes from the 1996 Atlanta Closing Ceremonies?

I live in a suburb of Detroit, so I have the chance of watching both CBC and NBC and I clearly thought CBC had better coverage of the opening ceremonies. It's a shame they lost their broadcast rights so now all I get to watch is NBC. Also, NBC would probably have higher ratings if they showed everything live. Because they show it on tape, a lot of people already knows what happened and they really don't need to see it.

I guess the NBC crew has refined their Olympic broadcasts over the years. That is why, to me, that NBC is improving overall, when it comes to that. Did well last time at Torino 2006, where the IOC did award it in the international broadcasting categories. It will be interesting to see how they will do Vancouver 2010 next.

There are some major differences on NBC ever since I can remember (Barcelona 92). Bob Costas is not as condescending, alot more relaxed, and not as uptight as he used to be in previous Olympics. The studio is awesome too!

hmmm, seems like im not the only one who thought cbc's opening coverage was weak. and i recorded the encore. sadly the parade of nations was butchered (did anyone notice the cbc went from like the 75th nation to the 100th or somewhere in there). anyways thats my thought

To aric2007, I have indeed recorded the Beijing 2008 opening ceremony. However, I had not only just did the CBC's live version; I did record the NBC delayed recording of it, too, later that day.

HTownCountryFan, I loved that part of the ceremony, too. The painting part that started that whole scroll scene was great. Believe it, that whole overall scene ended with the parade of athletes. That was why you saw the camera point down to show the feet of the athletes walking on that very paper.

Cashcleaner, I agree with you. The coverage by CBC of the Beijing 2008 opening ceremony was weaker than at Athens 2004. This was not surprising because this is its final broadcasting of the Olympic Games to Canadians. Never mind that Brian Williams left them for CTV, which will cover Vancouver 2010 and London 2012.

Wasn't Beijing incredible on the artistic side? I thought so. My favorite part was the printing block segment, especially when it made an image of the Great Wall.
