I think the young guy averts a terrible tragedy by overcoming prejudice and saving a young life. At the end of the video we see a little black girl all alone just about to step off the pavement. This is the beginning of the sequence of events. We see a car hurtling forwards in the video towards her. At 0:52 we see the horror on the faces of the ladies as they witness something terrible. Not shown in the video is the girl being hit by the car, it is not shown because it doesn't happen as the young guy rushes to save the girl. The video poses the question that if instead of being wrapped up in our own little worlds we are more observant and watch out for one another we may be able to avert more disasters.

By helping others we grow personally and become much larger. We see the guy rushing back in time (he goes forwards while everyone else goes backwards), grows by overcoming societies barriers. The little black girl looks up and smiles and sees the old man who is actually the same guy. She knows everything will be ok as he is watching over her. The Black lady standing behind the little girl is the same girl but an older version. She in turn is looking at the same guy but an older version of him. Additionally the young version of the girl looks at the younger version of the guy. The video also plays about with time as the lovers at 0:52 stand frozen in time within the intensity of their kiss.
